Diet

For both bunnies and piggies their diet should mainly be made up of hay, 80% of it in fact. This should be long, stalky hay that smells fresh and is golden brown in colour. Hay doesn't have to be expensive, so find one your animals love and feed them lots of it. They do prefer hay in trays to a hay rack and there will be waste hay.
Piggies should have enough hay they can burrow through and bunnies often use theirs as their litter tray. Eating and pooing in the same place.
We also feed a good quality dry pellet, such as Science Selective or Burgess Excell. We do not feed muesli at all, although we do give pea flakes as an occasional treat.
Piggies have daily fresh veggies, whilst the bunnies have dried forage.
Please note it is important that diet is changed gradually to prevent any upset tummies.
Safe Habitat

We are very open to bunnies living indoors and outside; however their accommodation must meet the RWAF standards for both size and safety.
Piggies must have indoor accommodation or a heated shed/Wendy house outdoors. Unlike rabbits they do not develop a winter coat and having no hair on their feet and ears which means they feel the cold just like we do.
Whilst we will re-home piggies to live in a herd, the minimum space per piggy should still be followed.
Wellbeing

Whilst having a large enclosure is fabulous for the animals, that alone isn't enough. They must have the facilities to allow them to display their natural behaviour and thrive. This includes, hides, tunnels, forage trays, dig pits, things to chew such as willow and seagrass balls and mats.
Enrichment is vitally important to their health and happiness.
Companionship

Living alone is no fun for rabbits or piggies. They both thrive with companionship of their own kind. We are happy to help you find that perfect companion for your pet and will even do the bonding for you.
